Stand off with the Vicarage Cat

Wedding couple 1There was a stand off at the Vicarage in Bryncethin today when this lovely couple came to meet with Rev Suz to discuss their forthcoming wedding.  The Vicarage Cat was not going to be moved anywhere and was not at all impressed when Tedi Su claimed a part in the proceedings.  Perhaps he’s envious because Tedi Su will get to go their big day whereas he’ll probably be asleep somewhere!

Teds get mail

Living in a house with four grown up children you get used to sorting out the junk mail and then sorting our their mail before you get to your own mail. It seems however that the Teds are now so popular they are getting their own mail as well!!!

How did Chesterfield get their address? Should I ring the police? Answer’s on the back of a £50 note………..

Llangynwyd Primary School – Assembly

This is me with Mrs Parry after their school assembly on Lent. Vicar Martyn challenged the children in Lent to stop doing something that they know is wrong and start doing something good or right like being a kinder person.

Ysgol Cynwyd Sant

This is me with the lovely children at their school assembly. Vicar Martyn was asked to speak about Fairtrade – treating people fairly for their work like the farmers etc. A fair days pay for a fair days work. He also connected this to Modern Day Slavery where people are forced to work long hours often for very little money. He told them that Jesus said ‘love your neighbour as you love yourself’ and be kind to everyone around you.

After the assembly he stayed for a question and answer session with some of the children about what a vicar does which was fascinating as I only thought he only worked on a Sunday!

Pancake – Quiz Night

This is Ceri one of our Church Wardens he was the quiz master. The pancakes look lush. He asked lots of searching questions such as the weight of the biggest pancake and the highest a pancake has been tossed. He also asked if Sunday’s were included in the 40 days of lent. I think that was one of the few questions vicar Martyn got right. I am not sure how much of a help he was to his team which were called ‘Butterless’ something to do with special pancakes for the vicar. Special needs!!!

Shrove Tuesday – Pancakes

There were plenty of pancakes on Tuesday night and rumour has it the vicar had five! No wonder he talked about giving up biscuits, cake and chocolate for Lent. It’s called ‘will power’ vicar! Good luck for Lent those 40 days are going to fly by. mmmm

New Arrival

New mum Gwenllian holding me brought baby Ffion Megan Davies to meet some of us in church. She’s only a little bit bigger than me. Proud grandmother Sian (vicars right) has asked about a potential baptism service in Welsh now that the vicar thinks he has mastered the blessing. That will teach him!

Bingo – Anniversary

This is Tony our usual bingo caller and his wife Jane. It was their 38th wedding anniversary and Tony demonstrated his love by taking Jane to the parish bingo night and paid for her ticket. Vicar Martyn said it was a gesture of true love.

Bingo

I went to bingo last week and this machine made lots of noise and then a ball popped out. Rhian the bingo caller then shouted out a number and some people shouted comments back such as 22 – quack quack, 11 – legs 11 and whistled. All very strange but everyone laughed and had fun.

Gymanfa Ganu – Gang

These lovely people took me to the Gymanfa Ganu in Pen-y-fai where they sung some hymns in a new language to me which they called ‘Welsh’. I met lots of new friends.
