Teds help Rev Ian with some video editing which it turns out is a new skill that vicars need in these days of being church at a distance. You get ordained and think you know what is entailed but then find out that on the job training is a life long thing. Hey ho.
Another training event for the Teds when they came along to the Safeguarding training event for clergy held in Pencoed.
The long and the short of it is there are many people who are living lives where they are being hurt and atre afraid to speak out. We all need to be aware of the signs and know what to do when we see or hear or just ‘feel in out gut’ that something is wrong.
Some of the stories we heard about in the session where things had gone wrong were where people had not wanted to get involved or just left things to wait and see.
Not a pleasant training session but necessary in this post Eden world sadly.
Teds joined me on a Diocesan Training Day all about Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. Probably not the best subject matter for young bears to have to sit through but something we all in this day and age need to be aware off.
We had various speakers throughout the day explaining what the uncomfortable situation was in the world, UK and local society today and what was being done about it. We also had a speaker who had been through the whole unpleasant situation and told us what would have helped her been saved sooner.
We need to make sure we are a people and Church of welcome and – like Jesus told us in the parable of the Samaritan – do not just walk on by. At the least if you think something is just not right contact the helpline 08000121700
