Thinking about VE Day 75

The Vicarage may have been decked with home-made bunting but Tedi Su and Sandy Lou were sad.  Sad because VE Day 75 was meant to be a big weekend in the Parish.

They had been looking forward to going along to a wedding that was meant to take place at St Bride’s and then spending the rest of the weekend remembering the sacrifices that so many had made.

The little bears thought too about all of the brave key workers still going to work in the midst of the pandemic and felt that perhaps those who gave up so much during the war years would be proud of them.

The war of the laps

The war of the laps

Our VE Day Celebrations Planning Meeting was going well until the Vicarage Cat decided to join in the proceedings.  As ever, Tedi Su and Sandy Lou were not going to be outdone nor left out and so began the war of the laps.

Thankfully, the cat soon settled down and order was restored.

Teds bump into Geraint the clerk

It’s a funny old game being a vicar. You never know who you are going to bump into and when.

Me and the boys were standing outside the house waiting for the funeral director to pick us up to go to Jeans funeral (see previous post) and Geraint the council clerk comes out of the council office which is opposite my house. He wanted a chat about the up and coming civic service and also the VE Day celebrations in the community.

He then noticed the Teds and was happy to pose for a photo. Who isn’t.!

Planning a special celebration

Tedi Su joined in the planning of a special celebration yesterday evening.  She was glad to be able to sit with the ladies who were full of ideas about what we might do to mark the 75th anniversary of VE day.  The Vicarage cat was not quite so interested but made sure he joined in too.  Tedi Su was glad to keep a safe distance!
